The recent decision to discontinue the supply of the makings for tea and coffee for staff tea rooms on the Pietermaritzburg Campus of UKZN (for a small monthly subscription) is very disappointing in itself. What is more disappointing, at least to me, is that it seems to suggest that we (used in the Royal [UK] sense), are unable to manage the supply of tea and coffee as already described. Maybe the university should draw on its experiences in managing another almost universally used resource, namely access to the Internet Bandwidth in order to solve the problems associated with the supply of the makings for tea and coffee.
