The Last Paver
11 April 2026
Pincushion Protea

The photograph on the left above shows the pavers that my grandson Ryan, laid during his April break from the Farm School associated with the Hands-On Education Center based in Clarendon, Pietermaritzburg. The pavers continue around the corner and those were laid during the Christmas break.

I am sure that you will agree with me that they are expertly laid. The last paver laid during this session is the one that is just peeping out to the right of the shade-cloth screen. It is also the last paver that will be laid at our home here in Protea Gardens

Edith and I are indebted to Ryan (and Bruce) for the work done laying pavers. Fergus and Rusty have not said as much, but I am sure that they feel the same way. These two Scottish Terriers can now get to most of the places they need to go around our home, without having to step onto the grass, and thereby getting their feet wet.
