On the 8th January 2026 I will have been at home for two months. The month prior to that I was in MEDICLINIC and the Royal (Recovery) Hospital in Pietermaritzburg. I went in on the 13th of October 2025 for a checkup expecting some problem to be found and fixed on the same day. I was wrong - I had a Triple-Heart-Bypass accompanied by a stroke. That was followed by another operation to unclog my right Carotoid Artery.

By the time I got home I was desperate to do so, and I would once again like to thank the members of my family who made it possible for me to do so. The all helped and continue to do so. HOWEVER it is Edith, my beloved wife, who now has me at home. It was not an easy start for her, as my first visit to my local Doctor revealed that I had acquired a HOSPITAL BUG/INFECTION. As soon as I have done writing this BLOG, I will print her Nursing Diploma. It has been awarded with distinction!

I am now feeling much better and have started to lend a hand where I am able to do so. I am also having to deal with trying to fit into the spaces I used to occupy with regards to the house, garden, my marriage and the life we were living before I went for my CHECKUP.

The stroke, and my recovery from the stroke, is requiring all the patience I have. I carry it around with me, knowing that it is me that has to deal with myself. Seventy seven years ago I was learning to walk. Now I find myself doing it again, and I also find myself hoping that this time around I will be better at paying attention to the advice that I am getting.
