'Allo 'Allo Gardens ! (AAG) Howick (uMngeni) AAG Blog Yakutsk A Russian City Winter Solstice Possibly the coldest City in the World |
During a visit together with some cycling friends to a cycling couple for a braai, Canada was mentioned. Given our spate of cloudy rainy days in Howick, we naturally talked about the weather in Canada.
Canada is a big place, and some of it gets very cold. Russia is also a big place, and it probably hosts the coldest city in the world. This city is Yakutsk. Worth a street visit with Google Earth. I am still looking for a statue of Lenin
Some notes regarding the images
* This blog serves to share just how cold Yakutsk is.
* Yellowknife in Canada is also cold.
* Given the WeatherUnderground forecast imagery, it would seem like the Yakutsk would be a better bet than Howick for a day out in the open.
* The final image shows the traversal of the sun as seen from Yakutsk on 21/12/2023. For similar images relative to Howick, follow the link provided below.
