Protea Gardens
The Entrance and Exit Gates Best viewed using a PC/Laptop |
When my wife and I moved into our unit here at Protea Gardens towards the end of 2021, we each received a two button remote for opening the Protea Gardens entrance and exit gates. As everyone living at Protea Gardens probably knows, the gates have been problematic, and probably tested the patience of a few residents. While we have had a few gate problems trying to leave the property, we have mostly not been adversely affected by the gate problems. Like everyone, else we are greatfull to those whose endless efforts to resolve the problem eventually paid off.
Well all that changed for me on Friday evening (3 June 20222) as I confronted the exit gate in order to leave the property. The gate did not budge despite my best efforts with my remote. I returned to our unit to collect my wife's remote, and that also did not budge the gate. Eventually with some help I was able to get through the gate. Twenty minutes later I returned with the Pizza and Brandy Tarts, and guess what? I pressed the button on my remote, and, "Viola", I was in!
The next day just before lunch my wife and I revisted the gate to test our remotes. As it turned out, our timing was excellent as we met Bill, the Gate Keeper at the Protea Gardens gates. Withinin minutes the problem had been resolved. It appears that the Exit Gate has a "Blind Spot". If you stop at the gate such that the Concrete Pillar that the gate closes against is obstructing your view of the Gate Control Panel used by visitors, your are positioned in the exit gate's Blind Spot, and the gate does not open regardless of what you do with your remote whilst in that position.
At the end of it all, I was left 1) wondering if I am the only resident who has been blind-sided by the Exit Gate, and 2) feeling the need to share my experience lest I am not.
I could go on about the Electric Fence between Pincushion Lane and the Building site, but that deserves a post of its own. So does the fact that I have to carry two remotes, one for the Protea Gardens Gates, and another for our garage.
